Bridgetenders needed greater visual awareness to ensure safety zones were clear of pedestrians and vehicles during bridge operations, replacing ineffective lidar and infrared sensing technologies.
The Solution
Ruggedized MIC and FLEXIDOME cameras with edge-based video analytics were installed to monitor safety zones, paired with IP loudspeakers for automated announcements.
The Results
The system automatically alerts operators if someone breaches a safety zone and plays bilingual audio warnings, allowing Bridgetenders to focus strictly on critical visual inspections.

The Challenge
Palm Beach County maintains eight movable bridges along Florida's Intracoastal Waterway and a historic swing bridge crossing the Rim Canal surrounding Lake Okeechobee. These critical transportation assets require constant monitoring to ensure the safe movement of vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and marine traffic.
The Solution
To strengthen safety and operational efficiency, the county sought a more effective approach than traditional sensing technologies.
