Intelligent Video Analytics to Protect Puerto Paracas

The Challenge

The port needed to protect an 11-hectare terminal from drug trafficking, but extreme salinity, severe vibration, and 35-knot winds rendered standard PTZs and radar solutions useless.

The Solution

MIC IP ultra 7100i PTZ cameras were installed on 40-meter poles. The cameras feature optical image stabilization and Intelligent Video Analytics integrated with Genetec.

The Results

The system delivers reliably sharp 4K UHD images despite pole vibration. A single intelligent camera automatically tracks intruders, closing security gaps and replacing up to four standard fixed units.

We now have a single Bosch camera on a pole instead of three to four units like in the past. And our security gap has successfully been closed. Where we were once blind, now we can see.

The Challenge

Puerto Paracas operates as a highly active port terminal in Peru, managing vital cargo while facing the persistent threat of unauthorized intrusion and regional drug trafficking. Located in a harsh coastal environment, the facility’s security team struggled with legacy cameras that produced unstable, blurry images due to extreme winds, high salinity, and severe pole vibration.

The Solution

To secure the 11-hectare facility, the port implemented an intelligence-first video security solution built to withstand extreme elements. Ultra-rugged moving cameras were installed on 40-meter poles, utilizing optical image stabilization to deliver pristine, vibration-free imaging despite 35-knot winds. Equipped with edge-based video analytics, the system autonomously detects and tracks individuals and vehicles, seamlessly integrating with the port's central security software.

The Results

By transforming raw video into reliable, real-time spatial intelligence, the solution eliminated previous security gaps and reduced the total number of cameras required. This clarity empowers operators to identify authorized personnel instantly and trigger precise security protocols, ensuring that the port remains highly secure and commerce flows without interruption.
