The Challenge
Scientists needed to capture clear video and audio of wildlife inside the world's largest cave passage in extreme conditions (30°C, 100% humidity, total darkness) without disturbing the habitat.
The Solution
Three rugged MIC moving cameras were installed inside the cave and connected via a 3.8-kilometer fiber optic line to a remote Bat Observatory.
The Results
The cameras operate flawlessly in total darkness and harsh tropical conditions, providing real-time surveillance and allowing up-close observation by scientists and tourists.
“Borsamulu Park management and CTG Security Matrix agree that the Bosch MIC cameras are an amazing product, working in a very challenging environment.”

The Challenge
Gunung Mulu National Park in Borneo is a remote UNESCO World Heritage site home to some of the planet’s largest cave systems. Park management and scientists needed a reliable way to observe the millions of bats dwelling deep within the caves without disturbing their natural habitat. Operating in total darkness, extreme humidity, and high temperatures required equipment that could withstand an incredibly hostile environment.
The Solution
To achieve this unprecedented visibility, the park deployed an intelligence-first video security solution using highly ruggedized moving cameras. Installed in the world’s largest cave passage and connected via a 3.8-kilometer fiber optic line, the system allows operators and visitors to remotely control the cameras from an all-weather observatory. The robust engineering ensures flawless operation despite the oppressive heat, constant moisture, and lack of ambient light.
The Results
By delivering sharp, continuous imagery from an inaccessible location, the solution transforms a logistical challenge into an invaluable scientific and educational asset. This real-time visual clarity empowers researchers to monitor wildlife behaviors confidently and safely, preserving the delicate ecosystem while sharing its wonders with the world.
